Jin Sakai meets Ryuzo at the Takuzudama Cemetery, where one of the Straw Hat Ronin comes back to advise them that there are many Mongols at Fort Ohira. Jin comes up with a plan to light the fire at Tsutsu Lighthouse, signaling Ryuzo and his men to begin their attack.

Ryuzo leads the Straw Hat ronin group after their leader's death during the battle at Komoda Beach. The Mongol invasion causes the group to down by half as they suffer from massive losses during the battle and starvation, leading to some members abandoning the group.
