Global health partnerships, such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, were established to streamline efforts in the health sector and respond to the challenges posed by the new aid environment.

Over the past decade, Global Health Partnerships (GHPs) have emerged as key actors in the global health architecture. GHPs now have considerable leverage on health policy and are increasingly effective in delivering results against ambitious targets.

With the Transformation agenda, WHO set out to deepen existing relationships and nurture new innovative partnerships. Over the years, WHO has engaged with a broad scope of partners in various capacities across all three levels of the Organization.

Each partner has a role to play in the Health Cluster. There are over 900 partners at country level of which 66 partners engage strategically at global level – this is a collective force guaranteeing that the response to health emergencies becomes more timely, effective and predictable.
