WHEREAS, on December 15, 2020, the Grand County Council approved Res. 3257, adopting the Grand County Economic Diversification Action Plan, and establishing the Economic Diversification Advisory Council (“EDAC”), to advise on policy development and issues relating to economic diversification in Grand County;

Grand County is located in southeastern Utah and was originally named for the Colorado River, which at the time was known as the Grande River. Its county seat and largest city is Moab. As of 2000 the population was 8,485, and by 2005 it was estimated to be 8,743.

Driven from their communities east of the Mississippi River because of religious persecution, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints settled in the Salt Lake City area of northern Utah and southwestern Wyoming where farming was bountiful.
