The Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) training teaches science-based, environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida's water. Training options include in-person classes with test held around the state, live remote (Zoom) classes, and self-paced online or DVD training.

As a Green Team member, you will have the opportunity to provide meaningful service to UF, while networking across campus and promoting and encouraging sustainable actions and attitudes in the workplace by leadership and example. Since the early 2000’s, we’ve been designing and constructing green buildings and to this day, we have more sustainable building certifications than any other public higher education institution! Through our collective efforts across campus, we have sustainably certified approximately 20% of our total building inventory.

As dependent upon the unique research environment, sustainability in laboratories can be achieved through a variety of approaches. Key action areas include energy savings, resource conservation, adhering to principles of green chemistry/engineering, and conscientious material/waste management.

Our current research is focused on sustainable design, robotic remanufacturing, electric vehicle batteries, and engineering solutions for addressing electronic waste. Our lab is directed by Dr. Sara Behdad and is supported by a dedicated team of researchers, graduate and undergraduate students with multidisciplinary expertise and visionary talents.
