The Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE) is designed to ensure that candidates have demonstrated a minimum standard of knowledge in the surgical sciences of anatomy, pathology and physiology - the foundation of surgical training.

Information about the exam structure of the Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE). The GSSE is comprised of two 150 minute (2.5 hour) online examinations held over two consecutive days. Please note that there is no reading time for these examinations.

The Generic Surgical Science Examination is conducted simultaneously across Australia and New Zealand and is offered in the following centres: Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. New Zealand: Auckland and Wellington. Candidates will be asked to nominate their preference when registering for the examination.
