The 6 cylinder, overhead valve naturally aspirated engine has 2 valves per cylinder and a volume of 2 litres. It produces power and torque figures of 104 bhp (105 PS/78 kW) at 5300 rpm and 159 Nm (117 lbft/16.2 kgm) at 3000 rpm respectively.

Triumph continued to commission the legendary designer, Giovanni Michelotti, to design a GT fastback variant of Triumph’s Spitfire in the early 1960s originally called the GT4.

Triumph modified the engine with a new cylinder head, manifolds, and camshafts which boosted horsepower to 104. The top speed was now about 117 mph, with zero-to-sixty taking about 10 seconds. This was faster than its competitor, the MGB GT, which had a 105 mph top speed and 13-second zero-to-sixty mph run.

1971 MKIII GT6 (rotoflex) KF1145L. Current owner acquired car as a true Barn Find. Found the GT6 in a barn in Tyler Texas in 2000. The car had been parked for some number of years due to a busted differential. 3 year restoration started in 2001 and finished 2004. Frame was sand blasted, dents pulled out and powder coated.
