This paper reports on the integration, test and evaluation of a Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) system installed on an Airbus H145 (BK117 D-2) civil certified helicopter. The DVE system consists of a LiDAR sensor, an EVS camera and a head-tracked helmet mounted display system (HMD) integrated into the onboard HELIONIX® digital avionics suite.

The new H145 was built on this feedback. Its impressive additional 150kg of useful load enables a 10% increase for mission capacities and over 50% of its MTOW is useful load. H145 becomes now one of the leaders when it comes to a smooth flying experience and goes also further to improve its ability to land in confined areas.
