You can get 100% of this greatness by buying a new HD-600, which uses better materials anyway, and that sounds exactly the same (at least my set does). But there's something special about owning a legendary product. The HD-580 is a legendary product, and I'm glad I discovered it.

I'm not completely sure that this new driver (the same as in newer HD 600) was installed in HD 580. So there were some combinations of form, screen and driver. For example, my HD 580 were: Ireland, with rased name plate. Black silk-paper screen.

2006年1月1日 · I wanted a blacker than black version of the 580 because those Jubilee pics looked SOOO sweet, and the HD600 IMHO look all wrong with that synthetic marble paint and flimsy-cheap stock cord. Anyways nice review, pics and thanks for the inspiration.

2005年8月14日 · I think mbwilson111 has a one of the late HD 580 versions. I own the HD 580 too, and the one has a raised name plate, a black silk-paper screen and an old type driver, so I think my one is 3rd version. mbwilson111's version has a different driver screen: not a silk-paper, looks like an old HD 600 driver screen. 2002年12月19日 · i have posted a reply to a similar question before, but yeah i got really crazy once and bought both the HD-580 and HD-600 at the SAME TIME, let them burn in equally, and... did some A-Bing. Well, first of all, the HD-600 are heavier, I don't know if that extra weight contributes to sound but yeah it just feels heavier on your head.

I've been going through the Sennheiser USA website and I don't see any replacement drivers for sale in the parts store. I've been going through some older threads and it seems these used to be available for purchase...

2005年8月14日 · Interesting line-up. I think the HD580 Flatplate 2nd gen is slightly less forgiving and plainer than the silver screen HD600. The HD600 is also slightly more fatiguing. This line-up appears to be based on transparency/purity rather than 'fun'. I would place the raised nameplate 3rd/4th versions...
