2021年10月5日 · First one is in my opinion a late contract HGU-2A/P (early 70's, based on a -22/P shell, headset not being spring-loaded anymore), but also might be an early single-visor HGU-26/P, for the polystyrene liner with sizing pads was used in both types.

2014年6月9日 · All USAF single visors and their subvariants must be exclusively HGU-2/P or the enhanced HGU-2A/P. In this latter instance, basic shell for both the HGU-2A/P and HGU-26/P is the HGU-22/P (the shell alone).

I know from RDAF sources that it applies both to the HGU-26/P single visor and double visor versions, and it also applies to the HGU-2A/P-D three-piece ramshorn version. Since the HGU-2/P is based on the same helmet shell (the one that later became the HGU-22/P) I would be very surprised if it did not apply to that one as well.

There is a very interesting custom fit HGU-2A/P on eBay right now. It was custom fit by Gentex in 1983 but it bears all the hallmarks of a Protection Inc. custom fit just like the APH-6s and HGU-33s that we have seen before. The latest example was the light blue APH-6 won by DocBoink some weeks ago.

2021年5月6日 · Online readings told me the last batch of HGU-2A/P (already based on the -22/P shell) ended circa 1973, and given the following single visor helmets of the series were already called HGU-26/P in manufacturers' catalogs of 1974, it can be considered that the -2A/P nomenclature therefore disappeared from that point on.
