Bachelor of Medicine &Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) The Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine makes a significant contribution to the undergraduate MBBS programme, with intensive involvement of full, part-time and honorary members in the new curriculum.

These regulations are applicable to candidates admitted to the MBBS degrees under the 6-year MBBS programme and the study track of MBBS (Distinguished MedScholar) offered under the MBBS programme in the 2023-24 academic year and thereafter.

All applicants for the MBBS, BPharm, BNurs, and BChinMed programmes, both local and non-local, are required to have a good working knowledge of English and Cantonese. Non-JUPAS candidates may be shortlisted on the basis of individual merits as shown by their academic records and other non-academic achievements for interview.

The MBBS curriculum is not only about training doctors but also personal development and fulfilment. Alongside learning that takes place within hospitals, students will gain first-hand experience in a wide variety of community-based settings that involve family physicians, maternal and child health services, hospices and patient support groups.

02 The MBBS curriculum runs for six years, consisting of three core components: the Pre-clinical Curriculum, the Enrichment Year and the Clinical Curriculum. The most updated curriculum, titled “MBBS 140 Curriculum”, adopts the “140+ CORE” as the backbone.
