HM01 Cut allows you to chop down all those little trees that have been barring you from certain paths in the game. Before you can use it, however, you must first win the Forest Badge from Eterna City’s Gym Leader, Gardenia.

You can obtain HM01 Cut by talking to a male NPC inside of a house to the left of Rustboro City’s Pokémon Center. While this HM is not required to progress through the main story, Cut allows you to cut down prickly trees that block you from accessing specific locations and items.

You’ll get HM01 Cut on the S.S Anne in Vermillion City. It is given to you by the ship captain in his room on the 2nd floor of the ship. But you won’t be able to get onto the S.S Anne until you get the S.S ticket from Bill at his house on Route 25. Once you get the ticket, HM01 will become available. Prerequisites
