A hospital corpsman (HM) or corpsman (/ ˈkɔːrmən / CORE-man) is an enlisted medical specialist of the United States Navy, who may also serve in a U.S. Marine Corps unit. The corresponding rating within the United States Coast Guard is health services technician (HS).
HM’s assist health care professionals in providing medical and dental care to Navy and Marine Corps personnel and their families, and perform other duties that aid in the prevention and treatment of disease and injury.
