HMS Gnat was a Royal Navy Insect-class gunboat. She was built by Lobnitz and launched in 1915. Gnat saw service during the First World War as part of a flotilla operating on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. After the war, the vessel was transferred to China, where in 1927, Gnat took part in the Nanking Incident.

The most recent HMS Gnat (T60) was an Insect-class gunboat launched by Lobnitz and Co. Shipyard at Renfrew in Scotland on 3 December 1915. She was torpedoed by a submarine on 21 October 1941 and beached at Alexandria, where she was converted to a fixed anti-aircraft platform. She was broken up in 1945. Colledge, J. At 03.34 hours on 21 Oct 1941, HMS Gnat (T 60) was hit in the bow by a torpedo from U-79 about 30 miles northeast of Bardia. The bow was blown away to the 6in gun and the badly damaged ship towed to Alexandria, where she was beached. The ship was declared a total loss, but used as AA platform in the harbour defence until scrapped in 1945.
