The HP 9825A (AKA the 9800 series model 25) was a powerful fully algebraic desktop calculator. It replaced the HP 9820A and made a number of improvements including a full QWERTY keyboard (plus special function keys), a 32 (instead of 16) character display, and major extensions to the programming language.

Nov 22, 2024 · I am referring to my HP 9825A desktop computer. I restored the keyboard about five years ago and Larry Atherton (see post in general forum about Larry) restored a machine my tape drive to accept that 100 tapes.

The original plan for the product was simply to bolster the communications abilities of the HP 9825A when used with the HP 98036A serial I/O card. To that end, COM ROM added separate 16-character circular input and output buffers to aid high-speed communications.
