Hemorrhagic septicemia is predominantly a disease of water buffalo and cattle in tropical areas, caused by P multocida serotypes B:2 and E:2. HS can occur in asymptomatic, pneumonic, or disseminated forms; endotoxemia associated with disseminated (bacteremic) disease is often associated with high mortality.
