2024年9月6日 · Greens4HS2 is a group of Green Party members who support HS2 because it is vital to help decarbonise our UK transport network.

HS2 is powered by low-CO2 grid electricity. It uses less land and disturbs less habitat than road alternatives. It’s much lower CO2 than air alternatives. It promotes rail as an alternative to car for both local and long-distance travel. HS2 adds capacity to the existing rail network and is a public transport alternative to cars and planes.

Motion E01 as amended now sets down four contingent conditions in line with Green values which Green Party support for HS2 is dependent upon. These conditions have not been met, and there is no evidence they have ever been assessed.
