AASHTO H-20/HS-20 Loading Specifications & Differences
What is H-20/HS-20 Loading? AASHTO’s H-20 and HS-20 are live load ratings applied to the design of bridges or other suspended items (e.g. lids for concrete vaults). Because the pavers sit on a flat aggregate surface, they are not subject to the same bending moments and shear, and therefore will not collapse under the applied loads.
HL93 Truck Loads vs. HS20 Truck Loads - NPCA
2010年7月28日 · The HL93 “design truck” wheel load is the same as the HS20 wheel load. The HL93 “design tandem” wheel load is 12,500 pounds compared with the “Alternate Military Load” of 12,000 pounds. The extra 500-pound wheel load is not a large increase and will only affect those designs that did not have excess capacity.

2019年8月18日 · What does HS-20 traffic rating mean? This is the term used by AASHTO and ACI to describe normal MOVING traffic loading conditions up to 18-wheeler loading. This loading assumes a 16,000 lbs wheel load and therefore a 32,000 lbs axle load. It also takes into consideration the additional loading that occurs from moving vehicles.
Highway Design Loadings - Civil Engineering X
2024年4月15日 · The AASHTO Geometric Guide states that the minimum design loading for new bridges should be HS20 (Fig. 11.l) for all functional classes (local roads through freeways) of highways. Therefore, most bridge owners require design for HS20 truck loadings or greater.
AASHTO Vehicle Live Loading
In the 1980s and early 1990s, it became clear that the HS20 vehicle used in design was not a good representation of current highway loading and that a new design model was needed. Five candidate loads were developed and modeled using influence line analysis to look at the maximum positive bending moment, maximum shear at supports, and maximum ...
An “H20” or an “HS20” series truck features an 8,000-pound axle load for the drive axle and a 32,000-pound axle load for the axle(s) under the trailer. The only difference in these two vehicles is that the “HS20” truck has an additional 32,000-pound axle located under the trailer, which is
H-20 Load Ratings Explained - Bingham & Taylor
H-20 loading refers to a two-axle truck with design criteria of truck axle loading of 32,000 lbs, or 16,000 lbs per wheel load.
AASHTO HL-93 Loading | HS20-44, Design Truck, Design …
2017年2月19日 · It has 3 basic Live Loads for bridges called HL-93 Loading (where H stands for highway and L stands for Loading, developed in 1993). 1. Design Truck: It is commonly called as HS-20 44 (where H stands for highway, S for semi-trailer, 20 TON weight of the tractor (1st two axles) and was proposed in 1994) 2. Design Tandem:
Trucks that pull trailers are designated as HS, for example HS 20-44 (a 20-ton semi-trailer truck). In general, a truck loading depends on the type of bridge, its location, and the type of traffic anticipated. The AASHTO specifications also allow you to represent the truck as a single concentrated load and an uniform load.
