The HS. 1011 was a transonic airliner concept developed by Hawker Siddeley. It was specifically designed to fly fast as possible without creating a sonic boom. The rationale behind the 1011 only flying at just over the speed of sound was that Mach 2-3 supersonic aircraft would be limited to over-ocean routes due to sonic boom limitations.
