Happy Tree Town was founded years ago and is now the home to dozens of tree friends. . The city consists of various businesses, including restaurants, stores, and manufacturers. The city has a stable economy, a balanced education system, questionable but reliable health care, labor laws, a structured government, and a firm law enforcement system.

Most of the houses inhabited by the series' characters resemble trees with doors and windows in them. Some characters have different homes in different episodes (such as Giggles, Lumpy, and Pop). Cuddles has had different homes in different episodes. It is a tree in some episodes, and in others it is a normal house.

Within the Happy Tree Friends universe, many locations have been seen in various episodes. Most commonly seen are characters' homes. There are many locations around where the Happy Tree Friends work or go to. Just about all of them have been the location for someone's death. It only appears in the episode Wingin' It, where Flaky, Lumpy, Giggles, Petunia, Pop, Cub, and Cuddles go for an airplane trip.

The Happy Tree Town is the main town that revolves in the HTF world, and was founded by Sherman, Lumpy's great-great-grandfather. Happy Tree Town has the second highest death rate, behind Superjail. Located in the east coast of the happy tree friends world, The Town is surrounded by Brownia, Outerplain, New Port and Slotoko.
