Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) is a large-scale open cut operation that produces some of the highest quality thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal in the world. It is a joint venture between Yancoal (51%) and Glencore (49%) which is independently managed on behalf of the JV partners.

Hunter Valley Operations - Yancoal
Hunter Valley Operations (HVO), located 24 kilometres north-west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales (NSW), produces high quality thermal coal as well as semi-soft coking coal. Yancoal Australia acquired HVO on 1 September 2017. It jointly owns the mine with Glencore Coal Australia with a 51% stake in the business.

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) is seeking approval to extend the life of its two Hunter Valley mines – HVO North and HVO South – to continue to produce high quality thermal coal and metallurgical coal that is in demand on world markets. Under the proposal, HVO North will continue to 2050 and HVO South to 2045.
