2011年1月10日 · The early HZJ78/79 with the R151F had a problem with a 2 piece output shaft, where the sleeve on the output shaft would shear off the splines, leaving it with no drive. Was fixed by the factory after a couple of years, maybe sometime in 2003, with the 2 piece output shaft/sleeve being replaced by a 1 piece shaft.

2021年7月31日 · There are always tradeoffs and price differences, but I would go for the best cruiser you can afford and want. I'd take an older cruiser in better shape, than a newer one that needs a lot more work, although an HDJ78 would be hard to turn down! I'm pretty sure the HDJ78 pulls quite a premium over the HZJ78/75.

Summer 2007 i did the perimeter of Australia on a pushbike and a saw a lot of people driving the troop carriers (HZJ78) and of course I saw a lot of HZJ79 (pickups).

2015年5月20日 · I searched a long time here but couldn't find if the HZJ75 at least on the rear axle has a stronger axle housing and stronger 3rd member as the newer HZJ78/79. I met now 2 overlanders with HZJ78 that had a BROKEN rear axle and one of them has original TOYOTA reinforcements welded to the rear housing to prevent from cracking again.
