This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. 2016年9月2日 · I have to say, HaBaSa is, perhaps, the most beautiful hike I’ve ever done. The contenders are boosted up the board by nice stuff like fall foliage, HaBaSa is up there by its own merits. Haystack remains my favorite Peak.

HaBaSa is a short acronym referencing the the very popular hiking loop that groups Haystack Mtn, Basin Mtn and Saddleback Mtn. together in one fantastically grueling hike. These mountains would be peaks 41, 42 and 43 in my quest to climb all 46 peaks.

Haystack is the third highest peak in New York at 4,960 feet, Basin is ninth at 4,827 feet, and Saddleback is seventeenth at 4,515 feet in elevation. There are many components that make this a challenging trek, including the total distance as well as the tricky terrain.
