2025年3月21日 · The Mint made the first half dollar in 1794 of silver. The designs from 1794 to 1947 showed a woman symbolizing liberty on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse. 1947 was the last year that Liberty appeared on a U.S. circulating coin. From 1916 to 1947, the Mint produced the “Walking Liberty” half dollar designed by Adolph A. Weinman.

The 2024 Kennedy Half Dollar 200-Coin Bag contains circulating quality coins—100 minted at the Philadelphia Mint and 100 minted at the Denver Mint. These coins have never been placed into circulation. The Kennedy half dollars feature the original 1964 obverse (head) design with the image of President John F. Kennedy.

The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “THE FEW, THE PROUD,” and “HALF DOLLAR.” Surcharges in the amount of $5 for each half dollar sold are authorized to be paid to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and shall be used for the purposes of supporting the mission of the Marine Corps Heritage Center.

2024年10月2日 · The penny, dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar are clad coins. Clad coins have an inner core of metal surrounded by an outer layer of a different metal. The Mint makes clad coins with an inner core of copper. The nickel is the only circulating coin that isn’t clad.

2023年5月8日 · The Mint launched the Kennedy Half Dollar coin in 1964 following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The coin's obverse (heads) features the original 1964 design of President Kennedy with the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2023." The reverse (tails) design is based on the Presidential Coat of Arms.
