Halo spore damage also applies on melee so you get 2d4 per attack, so with a monk flurrying that’s 8D4 necrotic damage, plus the mind/body/soul dice from level 6 monk. The hit point cushion from spore mode is also nice for monks in melee, and your ki and wild shapes refresh on a short rest, so your only di is hint resource is spells.
