"Hamtaro" is a Japanese animated TV series first shown in 2000 and then introduced in the U.S. on the Cartoon Network on June 3, 2002. Focusing on a band of hamsters, it's one of the first Japanese series shown in the U.S. to be aimed at very young children.

A girl named Laura, her parents, and her hamster Hamtaro move into their new house. Hamtaro goes outside and meets hamsters Oxnard, Boss, and Bijou, who Hamtaro is instructed to sing for.

Hamtaro: [happily] Nothing like a full stomach to chase the blues away. [suddenly turns down] Hamtaro: Blues? Oh, I'm supposed to be helping Laura, not my stomach!

Elder Ham has selected Hamtaro to be the next Santa Ham for Christmas, but when Bijou finds out, she tags along with Hamtaro to help him in delivering presents to other hamsters.

The Ham-Hams and Laura have a dream about Howdy as an evil hamster who tries to take over the kingdom, but Hamtaro as Robin-Ham fights him.

After Laura tells Hamtaro about a fire drill, the Ham-Hams decide to practice for one.

Some episodes have characters being put into peril or other dramatic situations, like someone about to fall from a high cliff, or getting lost from owners (ex. Hamtaro getting lost from Laura/Hiroko).
