Hans Moravec is an Austrian-born Canadian computer scientist whose influential work in robotics focused on spatial awareness. He is perhaps best known for his outspoken views on the future of human beings and robots and of the eventual superiority of the latter.

Moravec's paradox is the observation in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics that, contrary to traditional assumptions, reasoning requires very little computation, but sensorimotor and perception skills require enormous computational resources.
