Apr 29, 2017 · Overall, I think that the HD820 is a very technically capable closed headphone with a pleasing non-fatiguing tuning and definite mid-bass emphasis. Easy to enjoy with no glaring deal-breaker level flaws.

Apr 29, 2017 · The HD820 pads like the HD800 are also huge, so I could see cases where face curvature + glasses = seal issues with HD820. The difference, likely, is that the HD800 is open anyway so an imperfect seal will likely impact the sound quite a bit less than the HD820. So perhaps for those who wear large glasses the HD820 is a less than ideal choice.

The ZMF Eikon are tonally purer (actually the most tonally accurate closed-back I've heard and a resolutely lovely listen ... my pair are going nowhere), but overall the HD820 better them in technical terms pretty much everywhere else.

Jan 12, 2018 · Sennheiser is capable of making this HD820 sound good. When I was in Berlin, even with the HD800S I was careful when music had a treble peak. The HD700 was truly awful in that regard. Thing is, when even Jan Meier is still working on a solution for that treble peak of the HD700/800/800S well the Sennheiser engineers know something is still off.
