In ancient times, the wall of a city was the most important defense for the people of that city. Both this huge wall and the 144,000 sons of Israel in Revelation 7 use military strength as a symbol.

The second heaven is the angelic principalities and powers. The third heaven, the heaven of heavens. is God's dwelling place.
