Magath being a heroic sacrifice, Eren also a heroic sacrifice and Reiner's mum suddenly turns "Good" in the final chapters. Mikasa's dreams. Are those Eren making her see memories? Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason.

I think that Attack on Titan's world-building doesn't really compare to a lot of the more unique anime/manga series out there. One Piece has built an entire world, with every island being an entirely new adventure to explore. In comparison, Attack on Titan seems pretty grounded in reality, heck AoT's world map is just ours but turned upside-down.
