The unique design of the HMM eliminates the hollow, clam shell sound of hand mics of the past. This has been achieved by designing an open grill on top of the microphone case which detunes the internal hollow resonance of the housing. The HMM is offered as the HMM and the HMM-iC.

A closer look shows the famous Heil accoustical foam packing layout. The old mic has foam in front & back of the electric condenser element while the new mic only has a 1" square piece crammed in from the back, nothing in the front.

I'm the proud owner of a Heil handmic for my Kenwood TS-50s. First thing I noticed was full power output; the stock Kenwood mic never showed that kind of response to my voice before! Reports have been excellent and if you like comfort, the HMM-K fits like a glove. The ergonomics are terrific (for this right-handed op).
