The Henschel P.87 was a proposed single-engine Schnellbomber design put forth by German aircraft manufacturer Henschel for the Luftwaffe during WWII. It was to utilize the then seldom-used tail-first canard arrangement, swept wings, and two vertical fins mounted on the wingtips.

The Henschel P.87 was a proposed ground attack aircraft, featuring a unconventional canard setup driven by a contra rotating propeller in a push configuration. Not much is known about the plane. A wind tunnel model was tested by the DVL (Deutsche Versuchsansalt für Luftfahrt, German Laboratory for Aviation).

This project was Henschel's design for a fast bomber to be powered by a single 2200 horsepower Daimler Benz DB 610 engine. A "Entenbauform" (built like a duck) design was used, with the tail in front and the wing to the rear. Vertical fins were located at the wingtips.

The Henschel is also a very nice kit as well. It comes with plenty of thinly scribed panel lines, wheel well detail, beautifully cast seats, and very nice landing gear. It even comes with a tiny 3 milimeter instrument panel with gagues and actual dials. How did they do that!

The Henschel concern of Germany developed the Hs P.87 along these lines. A unique design form was drawn up in which the tail surfaces were fitted ahead of the wing mainplanes to enhance controlling. A rounded fuselage, housing a multi-person crew, was used as the center point.

Based on the basics learned from the larger Henschel Hs P87 design, Henschel Chief Designer Dipl-Ing Friedrich Nicolaus and his design team embarked on the PJ600/67 low-level and ground attack project. It was to be a canard layout with power provided by two Argus-Staurohre As.044 pulsejets mounted aft with one each side of the tail.
