The Sikorsky HH-52 Seaguard (company designation S-62) is an early amphibious helicopter designed and produced by American helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft. It was the first of the company's amphibious rotorcraft to fly and the United States Coast Guard's first turbine-powered helicopter and first amphibious helicopter.

The Sikorsky HH-52A helicopter was developed from a Sikorsky commercially developed S-62 amphibious helicopter which mated the dynamic components form the S-55 (HO4S-3/HH-19G) helicopter with a boat hull and a light weight turboshaft engine.

The HH-52A was the Coast Guard’s first turbine-powered helicopter. It had a rotor diameter of 53 feet, a range of 474 miles and a top speed of 109 mph. It was an extremely flexible rescue aircraft that could fully perform missions with a minimum crew.

On July 6, 1960, the S-62 became the first American turbine-powered helicopter to be certified by the FAA for commercial operations. Also, it was the world’s first helicopter to be built with a watertight boat‑hull fuselage.

This little helicopter, a unique assemblage of proven parts, comfortably behind the cutting edge, performed astounding feats in thousands upon thousands of occasions. It became the international icon for rescue and proved the worth of the helicopter many times over.

For over 25 years, the Sikorsky Seaguard helicopter served as a dependable search-and-rescue aircraft for the U.S. Coast Guard. Based on the Sikorsky S-62A, its design integrated mechanical components from the S-55 (more commonly known as the H-19 Chickasaw) into an amphibious airframe with a high-performance gas turbine engine.
