The management of displaced intra-capsular hip fractures is evolving in light of NICE 2 and BOA guidelines 3, with more patients receiving THR over HHA. In our unit, the NICE guidelines 2 on hip fracture management are used to direct our decision making of HHA vs THR.

A hemiarthroplasty is an operation that is used most commonly to treat a fractured hip. The operation is similar to a total hip replacement, but it involves only half of the hip.
