HKP9 var en tvåmotorig helikopter med fyrabladig rotor. Hkp9A anskaffades som pansarvärnshelikopter (pvhkp) beväpnade med pansarvärnrobotsystemet HeliTow. Dess flygegenskaper var optimerade för den rollen och hade ett stelt rotorsystem.
