Holy Name Cathedral is both a parish and the seat of the Archdiocese of Chicago. It is the Mother church for Chicago Catholics. Our Pastor is Cardinal Blase Cupich, the Archbishop of Chicago, and our Rector is the Very Reverend Greg Sakowicz.

Holy Name Cathedral Church. The Church is located on the northeast corner of State and Superior Streets, about one-half block south of Chicago Avenue. The Church is three blocks west of Michigan Avenue, and an easy walk from the historic Water Tower.

The Cathedral has three mechanical action pipe organs: The Flentrop Gallery organ, the Casavant chancel organ, and a Flentrop study organ in the Chapel.

Holy Name celebrates 100 years as Chicago’s Cathedral and dedication of the Cathedral building. Our Holy Name Cathedral Faith Community celebrates a major milestone this year. Nov. 18, 2024, marked the 175th anniversary of the founding of Holy Name Parish.
