And on an unrelated note, my LEAR topper is leaking more than I think is acceptable...I called one of the truck topper dealers near me to find out how much they would charge to remove the topper, remove all tape/butyl and then re-install the topper...the owner told me that he's had such bad experiences ...

Could the Honda tonneau rail be used instead? (It seems like the topper clamp kits are ubiquitous for standard toppers but I cannot for the life of me find the special J-hook types used by Leer).

Based upon my limited research, it appears both brands have a tendency to leak water into the bed of the truck, but that's due to engineering / design flaw on Honda's part, not a defect of the topper.
