Hookaroon or Cant? | Hearth.com Forums Home
2013年12月9日 · I use my pickaroon a lot, especially for getting wood out of the truck bed. I have two cants - one with log lifter and one without. If I had to reduce to one, it would be without, but I do find the log lifter useful for small diameter logs - can usually get about 6 cuts off the ground before repositioning the cant.
Can anybody recommend a hookaroon (not pickaroon)?
2005年12月5日 · A pickaroon (or picaroon) is a wood-handled (may be other materials also), metal-topped log handling tool. It is distinguished from a pike pole by having a shorter handle, no metal point, and an opposite curve to its hook (toward the handle rather than away); and from both a cant hook and peavey by having a fixed hook facing its handle rather ...

2012年2月11日 · I was looking at a Hookaroon for the last few weeks to purchase and could not get over the cost of these things. I ended up building one for about $12.00 with pipe and fittings I had laying around the shop. The body is a piece of 1" schedule 40 pipe x 36" long. On the back end of the pipe I...

2005年12月5日 · I love my pickaroon. Awesome for getting wood out of back of the truck bed (I have a cap), picking up wood off the ground, moving logs, etc. etc. Really cuts down on bending over. You can easily pick up splits and smaller rounds one-handed.

2015年2月25日 · I use a Stihl hookaroon. It's got a small barb on the tip that helps it really bite into wood. Handle is 36 inches I believe. I wouldn't want it any shorter than that as you'd have to bend over to much to stick rounds on the ground. I'm not sure the difference between a "pickaroon" and a "hookaroon", but I'm happy with what I have.

2005年12月5日 · Maybe the 36" pickaroon will also have uses. Perhaps a longer reach when drawing down the wood pile from the end. I'm thinking the hook on the hookaroon holds better - we'll see. The pulp hooks might also be surplus, but I'm sure there'll be situations.

2017年6月6日 · I've been pleased with Fiskars tools over the years, so I wouldn't be surprised if their hookaroon is a winner. Before the Fiskars model was available, I got my hands on a 36" Peavey Mfg. Hookeroon, and it's become my favorite wood tool.

2020年5月26日 · Im going to order the 31" pickaroon tonight. It seems we all agree it's better and that was my initial thought too. I'd like to get both but I don't think the wife is keen on me buying 3 more new tools at once since I just bought a new angle grinder. Maybe the small one for my bday.

what type of pickaroon do you guys use? - Hearth.com Forums
2018年8月31日 · looking for a short-handled pickaroon for lifting rounds and splits without so much back bending. I'm thinking a 20" handle seems about right. Seems like the round pick points release the log easier than the flat-sided points. I also see some with a small axe head on the opposite side; might be useful for busting apart stringy splits
