2024年1月14日 · In the Bible, horses often symbolize speed, strength, and power. Fiery horses pulling divine chariots imply supernatural speed and might. For example, 2 Kings 6:17 describes the mountain being full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha, indicating divine protection and forces beyond natural strength surrounding the prophet.

A chariot is a type of vehicle similar to a cart, driven by a charioteer, usually using horses [note 1] to provide rapid motive power.

The chariot and horse serve as reminders of the tension between human reliance on military power and the call to trust in God. They illustrate the broader biblical theme of divine sovereignty over human affairs.

2018年3月26日 · Israel had no pack horses to carry the luggage through 40 years of wilderness and when Joshua’s army crossed the Jordan River he had no cavalry – only foot soldiers. It wasn’t because they were so primitive that they hadn’t invented wheels for chariots. They probably built chariots for Pharaoh when they were slaves in Egypt.

For thousands of years, teachers of virtue have articulated how to live a virtuous life through the illustration of the horse and chariot. Imagine a strong charioteer in a speeding chariot, arms out firmly grasping the reins, directing two powerful horses.

The seven chiefly virtues correlate to each part of the horse and chariot. The intellect is perfected by the virtue of prudence—which enables one to know and direct what’s right. The will is perfected by the virtue of justice—which enables one to do and uphold what’s right.
