HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience.

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

HOSA is the only national student organization that exclusively serves secondary and post-secondary/collegiate students in pursuit of a career in the health professions. In June 2004, HOSA had a unique opportunity to expand its mission and membership in response to the critical shortages facing the health care industry.

HOSA’s mission is to empower members to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. Membership is available for middle school, high school, postsecondary, and collegiate students with an interest in health and medical careers.

The purpose of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

HOSA membership is a part of an instructional program that prepares students for a health care career. Such programs can be found in: High Schools; Technical Schools; Community Colleges; Universities; An individual student who wants to join HOSA must join a HOSA chapter.

HOSA is a student organization that is 100% health care and offers opportunities for all students who plan to pursue a health care career. Students with leadership ability and social maturity, who can handle the spirit of competitiveness, will be more community oriented and will seek involvement and participation in citizenship

The Competitive Events Program is designed to motivate HOSA members and provide a system for recognizing the competencies developed by members through Health Science and Biomedical Science class instruction, related job training, and HOSA related activities.
