Check for rear hub play with a dial indicator, if excessive play either tighten the locknut or remove hub and replace bearing. To remove bearing bend up the locknut stake and remove axle nut - torque is between 159 - 217 ft pounds.

2013年8月15日 · Thoroughly clean all parts and pack the wheel bearings. Apply grease to threaded portions of the spindle, grease seal lip and wheel hub. Tighten the wheel bearing lock-nut with a socket and torque wrench to 58–72 ft. lbs. (78–98 Nm). Rotate the hub in both directions a few times to seat the bearings. Loosen wheel bearing lock-nut.

I have seen a lot here about doing the front wheel bearings on Falcons, but I've done some searching and have had some trouble finding anything similar posted here about replacing the rear bearings, specifically in my case an 1998 AU with IRS.

2014年6月2日 · For someone who wants to change their rear axle bearings as cheaply as possible, without a press at home, then: - Remove the axles. - Use an angle grinder to cut the collar off. - Smash the bearing cage with a hammer and chisel. - The seal will then slide off. - Take the axles to somewhere with a press and get them to press the new bearings on.
