Draw in the eyes, nose and mouth; which should be easy. Draw the mane and tail however you want. Draw the cutie mark as well. Cutie marks represent the character's destiny or talent. I am doing a bucket and spade because my character's special talent is building sandcastles. If you think that your pony needs some colour, then colour it in.

A good place to start would be the species of the pony and the color palette–we’ll establish some personality along the way. For colors, I recommend colorpalettes.net. You can always change colors later. For species, the big three are Unicorn, Earth Pony, and Pegasus. There are other species in the MLP world, but this is a basic pony guide.
