In the escape menu there is an option for Open to LAN. Click it, choose the basic settings for your LAN world, then click Start LAN World.

In chat, there will probably be a message that's something like "Local game hosted on port 66666". Copy and paste the number (in my example it's 66666) into Notepad or write it down.

If you go to mutliplayer it should show up with the Singleplayer world's name and no bars. If you were wondering, LAN is an acronym for Local Area Network. So if people are in your house/network, they are in your local area.
