2023年11月12日 · High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) is a squamous cell abnormality associated with human papillomavirus (HPV). It encompasses the previously used terms cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grades 2 and 3 (CIN 2 and CIN 3), moderate and severe dysplasia, and carcinoma in situ.

HSIL —This suggests more serious changes in the cervix than LSIL. It is more likely than LSIL to be linked to precancer and cancer. HSIL stands for high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. ASC-H —ASC-H means that changes in the cervical cells have been found that raise concern for the presence of HSIL.

HSIL refers to morphologic changes associated with higher end of the SIL spectrum and includes both CIN 2 and CIN 3 (with CIS). About 0.3% of all PAPs are interpreted as HSIL, almost all (95%) of which are HR-HPV positive . HSIL has a higher rate of progression to cancer and a lower rate of regression.
