The HVFD is a volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) (3) fire, rescue and EMS department with a primary response area that includes the City of Hyattsville, Town of University Park and surrounding communities. The HVFD is led by a passionate team of volunteers with roots from around the corner to across the country.

The object of the organization shall be the preservation and protection of life and property from, and during, such fires or emergencies as may occur in the community and vicinity; extend benevolence to its members, and cultivate a fraternal feeling among the firefighters.
