State Route 33 (SR 33) is a north–south state highway in the U.S. state of California. It runs north from U.S. Route 101 in Ventura through the Transverse Ranges and the western side of the San Joaquin Valley to Interstate 5 at a point east of Tracy .

Through Wheeler Gorge, State 33 passes through three tunnels, two of which are adjacent to bridges. Before 1964, State 33 was signed as US 399 from Taft to Ventura. This part of the journey includes three impressive tunnels cut through hard bedrock. After about 4 miles and an elevation gain of 1,000 feet, you’ll pass through the Wheeler Gorge Campground.
