David Shepherd had bought a stretch of line at Cranmore in 1974 to run his two locos Black Prince and Green Knight. Derek Chaplin must have gone to have a look and encountered 7022 shunting bitumen wagons at the smelly terminal next to Cranmore station. D7022 was withdrawn from BR service in March 1975.

They were common in all parts of the region from Paddington to Bristol/South Wales/Worcester/Hereford. They also worked to Birmingham and the West of England, but were rare west of Plymouth.

2014年8月27日 · A weary work stained Hymek 7022 moves towards the servicing depot. The Hymeks were living on borrowed time and in fact a farewell Railtour was run some 12 months before thus image. The NB scratched beneath the number indicated that the steam heating boiler was isolated and effectively banning them from operating passenger trains.

7022 Hereford Castle near Gloucester Horton Road shed on 16.06.1962. Gloucester Eastgate station is in the background, with a WR diesel, possibly a Hymek or a Western type. The fireman is standing on a fresh pile of coal and is 'putting the bag in'. 7022 Hereford Castle was built in 1949 and lasted to 25th June 1965.
