Designated as future I-274, the 17.4-mile Western Loop (identified as R-2247) is from U.S. 158 (Stratford Road) to U.S. 52. For construction purposes, it is divided into 10 sections, each in various stages, as shown in the following table.

I-274 is NCDOT's planned designation for the western half of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway between I-40 and I-74/US 52 in the NC 65 vicinity. (it appeared in the 2004 North Carolina's Strategic Highway Corridors map). It will be a renumbering of NC 452 which has been administratively assigned to this corridor.
