Illinois Central Gulf Railroad GP30 2253 dead at the Shops in Paducah, Kentucky on June 25, 1986, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built during December 1962 as GM&O GP30 503 ( c/n 27907 ) on EMD Order 7635, It was adapted by EMD to ride on trucks from GM&O Alco FA1 trade-ins.

Illinois Central Gulf GP30 2257 - previously Gulf Mobile & Ohio 507 - was tied up in Monroe with the power for the MONROE TURN. This job came out of Jackson, Mississippi to handle paper mill and interchange traffic at Monroe. A year later, the locomotive was sold to the Paducah & Louisville, along with GP35 2539 - originally GM&O 641.

From August of 1984 here are a trio of GP30s, two of them in GM&O paint, leading a short westbound train on the ICG Iowa Division at East Dubuque, IL. In 16 months this will become the Chicago Central and Pacific.

Illinois Central Gulf piggyback train No. 55 was nearing the end of its trip from the Windy City to the Crescent City as it headed through SOUTHPORT JUNCTION in the New Orleans area. GP30 2278 had been built as Gulf, Mobile & Ohio 529 in September 1963.
