2022年11月7日 · Revisiting this topic. after not using my 540 plow for years , i brought it out to turn some neglected ground. Always pulled with the 806. Now using the 5140 Maxxum because of the cooler weather and Cab. 5140 pulls it easy.

2017年3月28日 · Dad has a #540 that is 4-14's and it was always a nice match for his 706. I pulled the same plow behind my 560D at plow day a couple times, where the ground varied from medium to moderately heavy river bottom, and I was glad that I hadn't brought any more plow than that. It pulled it fine but any more would have been really working it hard.

2010年9月19日 · For a 540 14" plow I wouldn't want any more the a 17" colter at the most. I won't argue with you as you are probably far more of an expert than I, but I thought there were multiple mounting holes for the colter bracket that would allow you to run a larger colter like that by mounting it farther forward.

2014年10月14日 · The 535-540-550-560 were the same series. Do not know why they just didn't call it a model 530 plow. 535 would be a 3 bottom semi-mount steerable plow. 540 a four bottom and so on. Took the place of the 412-512 fence buster plows. Also it let you "cheat" on the draft line and plow in furrow with out rear wheel tread set out to kingdom come.

2016年2月1日 · Am looking for a 540 IH plow for my 706. It is a gasoline with the 263 engine. I will be plowing, not very much in Missouri black soil with a little bit of clay. Will the 706 handle a 4-16 or will I be better off with a 4-14. It has a 3 point hitch and am looking for a semi mounted plow.

2012年10月17日 · There were different styles of moldboard within the Super Chief line. The G is a stubble bottom, H is a general purpose, and X was the "high speed general purpose" bottom. I've mostly seen #60 and #540 era plows with G and H series bottoms, the X series quickly became the bottom of choice up until the last of IH plows.
