The 310 was limited to about 5000 hours due to sleeve problems. I have a water filter on my 686 D312 and that is supposed to help.

2007年12月27日 · IH was already in trouble when the 86 series came out and needed to save money wherever they could. They had thousands of left-over D310 and D358 German diesel engines laying around, so they used them in the 686, 786, 886 and 3088 tractors instead of building more American "small-block" diesels.

2022年7月16日 · *Estimated engine power for comparison only. The 282 was the original diesel available for the 706. It was later replaced by the German-built 310 diesel. The 310 replaced the 282 diesel in November 1966, serial number 37237. The 263 was also available as an LP gas engine. The 291 was also available as an LP gas engine.

2023年10月11日 · You'll probably need to find an old setup, or roll your own. I can't remember if it's the 310/358 or the 312/360 that the Cummins 12 valve turbo exhaust manifold fits... Know anybody with a CNC waterjet or plasma table? They could cut you up a set of flanges and all you'd need to do is some tubing work.

We have a 686 with the D-310, it has 6600 hours on it, and it has never been overhauled. It's very good engine, but they can be cold-blooded. Early German Diesels like the 706 had 15:1 compression and a full fuel control to help starting. Our 686 still has the 15:1, but no full-fuel setting, so it is probably the hardest-starting German Diesel.

2012年1月11日 · It is full of excellent pictures and loaded with very interesting history about many IH models built from 1955-1985. Ken has written several interesting articles in RED POWER magazine as well, some of which address the D-310 engine in tractors such as the 756. I have a '69 IH 756 with a german D310 in it. I love that engine.
